I'm saying it was impossible to get the 1st rank from this weekend because it's not fair how this weekend you couldn't but the Wintersday event you could possibly even reach rank 5 with enough work grinded into it.
|
It's not impossible to get rank 1 within the weekend. 333 points a day is very possible. If you don't want to grind rank 1 this weekend, you don't have to. Wait until the next event and grind some more.

Oy...no. Guild Wars was advertised as not requiring grind to become as powerful as someone who plays for 1000 hours more than you. That's fine and excellent, and has nothing to do with titles, which are (for the most part) ALL ABOUT grind. Drunkard/sweet tooth anyone? Treasure hunter/collector of wisdom?
That said, the OP is right; points for this title come in way too slowly. Arkantos, you said it yourself, 239 points in 5 hours. At that rate, it would take over 250 hours to get lvl 5 in the skillz title...which would be absolutely fine, IF someone could actually gain/grind points continuously. It'd be a very nice challenge, and a good way to show off your dedication to minigames. However, as-is, you only get opportunities to spend time getting this title every 2-4 months or so. Assuming you could spend...maybe 10 hours a weekend JUST grinding these points, which really is a lot of frickin time for one game in a festival, at this rate it would take 25 weekends to get lvl5...and since the weekends are on average 3 months apart, it would take about 6 years to get the title.
Something seems wrong with that, no?

Sweet Tooth is the most joke of a title the game has sever seen, you shouldn't even bring it up.
This title, can literally be maxed from 0 points in 5 minutes. If you have a keyboard like mine, the G15, you can make a macro that double clicks where your mouse is - Set that to 'toggle' and put your mouse over a stack of red bean cakes or another sweet. You will see the stack disappear in about 2 seconds. If you have enough sweets on you, you can fill the entire track in no time at all.
This title sucks.
Gamer Points REALLY DO need more ways to be achieved. Period. If you don't agree, you play all day long and think other people can do the same / want to do the same.

I find the events such as the racing and snowball fights to be full of sportsmanship. Unlike PvP where, let's say, someone forgets to bring res "ZOMG YOU ****IN NUB GTFO!!!". In the holiday events, people are always wishing each other good luck and never yelling.
As such, as I stated in my first post, I see no reason for a considerable buff in points, though a small boost would be nice.
...and I agree with eggs - if a title could be acquired in one weekend, then it can't be worthwhile. It should be like the explorer titles which take time - playing through the prophecies campaign will net you about 50-65% (at least in all my characters' cases), and then one would go back and work hard to find the remaining nooks and crannies. The gamer title should be similar, it sholdn't be like "playing through it" a few times will net you a title.

Difference between being able to "play through" to get a high title, and it taking the insane amount of time to get that I outlined in my post, JUST because the events are so spread out. No matter how hard a player works, they can't do anything about the 2 month (~) breaks in gameplay.

That ^ is what makes the title unique. I don't want to see everyone walking around with it. And for christ's sake, you do NOT need to sit at your computer all day to get the title.

Oh, boy... Here we go again...
It's obvious this event was terrible at giving out Gamer Points. I'm not saying they should make it easy so I can achieve Rank (1) in ONE sitting, but I grinded through alot of racing this weekend and barley got close to that. It's not fair this event was terrible at giving gamer points when Wintersday scoring system was much better. Why should the WIntersday have better scoring system than any other event?

Why? While I think the points distribution during the Wintersday festival was OK, for some reason A-Net chose to lower the points earned during this event, which also ran during a shorter time-period. (it was slower/harder grinding gamer-points during this event than during the Wintersday, no point arguing that)
However, seeing how many points is really needed for even getting close to the higher ranks, I sincerely hope they'll consider making the rewards a little better for the coming events! And thus it's signed

Maybe Anet thought Wintersday gave out too many Gamer Points and they didn't want everybody running around with "Skillz (1)" under there name. Maybe they don't want someone to get a new Tier of the Title every event. Maybe they wanted players to recieve a low amount of points so getting the title is an ongoing process.

So what, 3 events to get 1 tier at a time? I doubt someone will get a high rank tier then before Guild Wars is over.

I just tried the game, without playing much (one or two games for each) and I have more than 50 points.
A game title should be for tho who play games.
You want it? Play more!

So you raced twice? You can get 14 points if you finish 1st in those 2 runs. I don't think you know how difficult it was in comparison to the Wintersday Event.
